Collection: iCandy ELITE Scissors – Legacy Collection | Introduced 2016
Introduced in 2016, the iCandy ELITE Series represents an important chapter in the evolution of iCandy professional hairdressing and barber scissors. Developed as a coordinated professional cutting system, ELITE combined distinctive Mountain Blade geometry, ergonomic offset handles, ball-bearing pivot technology and matching cutting, thinning and texturising tools.
Today, the ELITE Series is preserved as part of the iCandy Scissors Historical & Legacy Archive, documenting an important development period from 2016 to 2020 and its place within the continuing iCandy design lineage that progressed into the ALL STAR Series and later the EVOLVE VG10 Collection.

iCandy ELITE Scissors – Introduced in 2016
The iCandy ELITE Series was introduced in 2016 during an important period of professional scissor development for iCandy Scissors Australia.
By this stage, professional salon-tool development associated with iCandy founder Mark Konrad dated back to 2006, while the iCandy Scissors brand itself had been established in Australia in 2012.
ELITE brought years of professional cutting-tool development together into a coordinated collection designed for both hairdressers and barbers.
The ELITE professional system included:
- 5.5 inch Cutting Scissor – a shorter professional blade for precision cutting and detailed salon work.
- 6.0 inch Cutting Scissor – a versatile all-round professional size for salon cutting and barbering.
- 6.5 inch Cutting Scissor – additional blade reach for larger sections, scissor-over-comb and barbering techniques.
- 6.0 inch Thinning Scissor – designed for controlled blending and weight removal.
- 6.0 inch Texturising Scissor – a wider-tooth configuration developed for creating texture, movement and softer finishes through the hair.
Rather than developing ELITE as a single cutting scissor, iCandy created a complete professional cutting, thinning and texturising system. This allowed professionals to move between different techniques while maintaining the familiar feel, balance and ergonomics of the same design family.

Designed for Professional Cutting
Ergonomic Offset Handle
ELITE featured an ergonomic shaped offset handle developed around professional comfort, control and freedom of movement.
The rounded handle geometry and rolled thumb allowed the scissor to sit naturally in the hand while helping the stylist reposition the tool through different cutting angles and techniques.
For hairdressers and barbers working through multiple clients every day, scissor ergonomics involve much more than appearance. Handle position, balance, thumb movement and blade control all influence how a professional cutting tool performs during extended use.
The ELITE handle reflected iCandy's continuing philosophy of developing the complete professional scissor — bringing blade performance, ergonomics, balance and mechanical movement together rather than concentrating on one element in isolation.
Ball-Bearing Pivot Technology
The ELITE Series incorporated iCandy's ball-bearing pivot system, continuing a technology used within iCandy professional scissors from the early years of the brand.
The bearing system was designed to reduce friction through the pivot and support a smooth, controlled opening and closing action.
Ball-bearing pivot technology continued to form part of later iCandy professional scissor development and remains an important feature across many modern iCandy models, including today's EVOLVE VG10 Collection.
The iCandy ELITE Mountain Blade
One of the most historically important features of the ELITE Series was its distinctive Mountain Blade profile.
The ELITE Mountain Blade was designed to increase strength through the blade while maintaining the sharp precision required for professional hair cutting.

The Mountain Blade was documented during the ELITE era in professional industry coverage and later in iCandy's surviving historical article published on 1 March 2020.
This surviving documentation makes ELITE an important reference point in the continuing development of stronger and increasingly refined blade profiles across later generations of iCandy professional scissors.
Blade geometry became an increasingly important part of iCandy product development as professional cutting evolved to require a combination of precision, stability, control and cutting power across both salon and barbering techniques.
The Mountain Blade philosophy developed through ELITE would subsequently be refined through the ALL STAR generation and continue evolving into the modern Sword Mountain Blade philosophy found within today's EVOLVE VG10 professional scissors.
ELITE as a Complete Cutting, Thinning & Texturising System
One of the defining characteristics of ELITE was that the collection extended beyond conventional cutting scissors.
The matching 6.0 inch ELITE Thinning Scissor provided a professional tool for blending and controlled weight removal, while the 6.0 inch ELITE Texturising Scissor used a wider tooth configuration for creating separation, movement and texture.
Together with the 5.5, 6.0 and 6.5 inch cutting scissors, this enabled professionals to build a coordinated cutting system around the same familiar design platform.
The concept of developing complementary cutting and finishing tools together would continue through later iCandy collections.

ELITE Colours & Professional Identity
Mirror Silver, Midnight Black & Rose Gold
ELITE developed a distinctive visual identity alongside its technical design.
Mirror Silver provided a classic polished professional appearance, while Midnight Black gave the collection a contemporary identity that became particularly suited to the rapidly developing professional barber market.

By late 2016, surviving iCandy production records and original product imagery also document ELITE in Rose Gold.
The ELITE Rose Gold system included multiple cutting sizes together with specialist thinning and texturising configurations, extending the coordinated ELITE concept into one of iCandy's most distinctive professional finishes.

iCandy ELITE Around the World
The ELITE Series became more than an Australian professional scissor collection.
Historical iCandy documentation records ELITE being showcased internationally in Italy, London, New York and Canada, as well as throughout Australia in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

The collection was also used and represented by professional hairdressers, barbers, ambassadors and educators associated with iCandy during the ELITE era.

The ELITE Series was documented in professional hair and barber-industry media throughout its active product life, providing surviving contemporary evidence of the collection, its features and its professional positioning.
INSTYLE Magazine – Nov/Dec 2016
Contemporary industry coverage appeared in INSTYLE Magazine's Nov/Dec 2016 INSALON section, which featured the newly released ELITE Midnight Professional Series.
The feature documented ELITE Midnight as being made from high-grade Japanese stainless steel with a Midnight Black Titanium coating and confirmed that the professional series was available as a cutting scissor, thinner and texturiser. It also highlighted the ergonomic design, ball-bearing tension system and Lifetime Warranty.
This coverage provides an important contemporary industry record of the ELITE Series during its original 2016 launch period.
The Cutthroat Journal – Issue 17, December 2019
The Cutthroat Journal Issue 17 featured the iCandy ELITE Series and documented its Mountain Blade, ergonomic shaped offset handle, rolled thumb, ball-bearing hinge system, 5.5, 6.0 and 6.5 inch cutting scissors, 6.0 inch thinner and 6.0 inch texturiser.
The feature also recorded the international exposure the ELITE Series had achieved since 2016, including Italy, London, New York and Canada together with Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in Australia.
This surviving period editorial material is preserved within the iCandy historical archive as independent industry-era evidence of the ELITE Series while the collection was still active.

ELITE and the Evolution of iCandy Professional Scissors
Every Generation Taught Us Something
iCandy professional scissors have never developed as completely isolated products.
Across successive generations, iCandy has continued refining the elements that influence professional cutting performance — including blade geometry, ergonomics, balance, tension systems, finishes, materials and the relationship between cutting, thinning and texturising tools.
ELITE represents an important development platform within that continuing journey.
Its professional design system brought together:

These ideas did not stop when the ELITE generation reached the end of its active period.

From ELITE to the ALL STAR Series
The iCandy ELITE Series remained an important part of the professional iCandy range from its introduction in 2016 through to 2020.
During those years, ELITE provided an important development platform for iCandy — combining the Mountain Blade, ergonomic offset handle design, ball-bearing pivot technology and a coordinated range of cutting, thinning and texturising scissors.
While ELITE remained active, iCandy was already developing the next generation of professional scissor design.
The design development that would ultimately become the iCandy ALL STAR Series can be traced to 2018, with the complete ALL STAR professional collection launching in 2020.
ALL STAR continued the professional development philosophy established through ELITE while introducing a refined Mountain Blade profile, newer ergonomic handle designs and further development of the balance, feel, finishes and visual identity of iCandy professional scissors.

From ALL STAR to EVOLVE VG10
The ALL STAR platform became another important stage in iCandy's continuing professional scissor development.
Through the ALL STAR generation, iCandy continued refining blade geometry, ergonomic balance, handle design, tension systems, manufacturing precision and the overall professional cutting feel of its scissors.
That development journey progressed again with the introduction of the iCandy EVOLVE VG10 Collection in 2024.
EVOLVE represents today's primary all-round professional VG10 iCandy collection, combining premium Japanese VG10 steel, precision convex cutting edges, ergonomic offset handles, ball-bearing pivot technology and the modern development of iCandy's Sword Mountain Blade philosophy.

The Cutthroat Journal Issue 17 documents the ELITE Mountain Blade, ergonomic handle, rolled thumb, ball-bearing hinge, complete cutting-size range and matching thinning and texturising scissors.

iCandy publishes “iCandy ELITE Series Scissors – Taking The World By Storm!”, preserving a detailed contemporary record of the ELITE generation.

The iCandy Historical & Legacy Archive preserves significant products and the surviving evidence surrounding them so that their contribution to later generations of professional scissors remains accessible.
Original product photography, production records, advertisements, catalogues, editorial coverage, historical websites, social material and other first-party records are progressively being reviewed and preserved within the iCandy Scissors historical archive.
This allows products such as ELITE to be documented using surviving period evidence rather than reconstructed solely from memory years after production has ended.
